PATS are a 2-in-1 Pacifier-And-Teether. It was created with a dual purpose in mind: the pacifier side was created to soothe while the beaded-teether was developed to aid with teething relief. Since babies are different and develop teeth at different ages, Ryan and Rose were the first baby brand to categorize pacifiers into stages according to the presence of teeth and not by month/age. Stage one is for babies without teeth and Stage two is for babies with teeth.
